Welcome to Develop This!My name is Sophie!  I am an Australian Political Science student, living in Montreal.  I have long been interested in the way in which International Development issues tend to “pop” up in the media etc. My particpiation in the non-governmental organization, EWB, has also fuelled much of my interest in the topic.

Much of my degree (and life experience!) has taught me that it is not always best to trust everything you read. Especially the first time you read it!  Moreover, there seem to be so many issues in the realm of international development and politics that don’t get much of a mention. So, let’s get a discussion going!

I thought a good way to get that discussion going would be through a blog. Hopefully, with comments we can get an interesting conversation started. From what I’ve read, blogging is one of the many new modes of finding the truth. And when it comes to International Development efforts, I feel that there is still A LOT of truth to be found!

I am in no way, shape or form an expert on anything that I attempt to discuss. Rather than preaching, I would like to use this site as a way of exchanging information. Please comment and prove me wrong whenever possible! (and that will be often!)

From what I have seen so far, many blogs that I have stumbled upon are rather self-involved and consist mostly of “navel-gazing”. So, I will keep this post brief, and the next will be much more about development, and less about me!
