About Me!

My name is Sophie and I am an Australian living in Canada. Some people like to call me “cocktail” as I am a fruity blend of Malay-Indian-Italian on one side of my family, and Dutch-Portuguese-Sri Lankan on the other! Thus it is easy to see why I am addicted to travelling and discovering exotic parts of the world.

I have spent my life travelling, so I have studied and lives in New Zealand, Australia, India, United Arab Emirates and Canada.

I am currently in my third year of a Political Science and History BA. It was this degree, along with the accidental finding of EWB on my university campus, that sparked my interest in International Development and the large array of politics that surrounds the topic.

My focus within my degree is on Middle Eastern and Asian Politics and History. I have also helped create an alternative media forum and I am currently the VP Communications for the Engineers Without Borders Chapter at my university.

It is for these reasons that I decided to create a blog that focused on International Development issues that appear in current events. It is often hard to find large quantities of information on development projects overseas and other advancements, so I hope my blog will create a place in which purely international development can be discussed.

I am currently living in Montreal, Canada. After this degree, I hope to persue a degree in either Journalism or International Law. Preferably in a country with a warmer climate!

Oh, and I love potatoes :)
